The Song of Songs, Shir HaShirim, was famously described as "holy of holies" by Rabbi Akiva. This sacred Ode of Solomon describes love, longing, pleasure, and romance, and is often interpreted as a metaphor for the intimate connection between G-d and his people, body and soul, but also a canonization of the love between a man and a woman. 

 

This is a collection of brief essays inspired by the verses of the holy Song, as applied to modern life, relationships, psychology, and spirituality. Written initially as weekly "schmoozeletter" email posts for subscribers, it was consolidated into this full series at the request of readers who joined midway or later on, and had missed the earlier chapters and verses.

 

They can be read in order or skipping around, alone or with a partner, whether you have a background in Torah texts/ Judaism or not, while snacking or without a snack, (but why would you want to read without a snack?)
